First trip to McCall, ID
We took a trip to our cabin in McCall, Idaho last week (Bear was 6 weeks when we left and 7 weeks 1 day when we came back). It is an 8 hour drive normally and it took us a little over 10 hours in total.
We would drive for around 3 hours and then I would feed and change Bear. Generally, we would stop at a rest stop so that I could go to the bathroom, then I would climb in the back of the Truck and feed Barrett and then change him on the center console of the truck. He was a total champ and barely cried. I mostly rode in the front of the truck but would climb in the back when he fussed and help him out with his paci.
When he would get out of the car seat, you could tell that he was happy to be out. He would stiffen his legs and want to stand. He was super smily when out of the car seat.
On the way over, we had one mis-hap. We decided it would be better to use disposable diapers (don't ask why) on the car trip so we had him all saddled up. We reached Mosier, OR (just East of Hood River) and got coffee and food. He had a HUGE blow-out. He blew out of his diaper, all over his outfit, all over the car seat. Back to cloth we went, no more blowouts! Needless to say, we are definitely a cloth loving family!
It snowed about an inch the first night in McCall and didn't snow otherwise. The trip was nice and somewhat relaxing. We pulled the enclosed trailer out there and brought a new washer and dryer and a TV we had for our room upstairs. We also replaced one of the mattresses upstairs that was really old and worn out with a newer one. (we are replacing our bed with a king, moving our queen to the guest room so the guest bed went to the cabin).
Since we had the trailer out there, we cleaned out a ton of stuff from the Cabin. There was a bunch of stuff there from Nick's house when they lived in Ontario and didn't move to Eugene when they moved (back in 1996). We took 1.5 truckfull's of stuff to the Thrift Store and donated it. Then we loaded up a bunch of stuff and brought it back. Most of it is files that need to be shredded or burned. Some of it needs to be donated. Anyway - the garage at the cabin is so clean and looks so amazing. The closets are cleared out of old stuff and the place just feels nice and clean. Nothing makes me smile like cleaning things out!
We are pretty sure Bear liked the clean mountain air. He loved having his swing by the fire and loved his baths in the sink.
