No, I am not preggers, however, even thought the products are great for mothers to be, they are also great for us "don't have kids" folk. A milestone missed!
I didn't even realize that I missed a milestone! My prior post was post #50! I never dreamed that I would actually stick to this whole blogging thing long enough to make it to 50, Hurray!
Nick and I had a very busy weekend. I worked and then took a section of the CPA exam, (please don't ask if it was hard, duh, it was hard!) I went home and my mom came up to the house to see it for the first time with Carly le Woof!
My mom was our very first overnight guest! She was very helpful, cleaning the dust off from the kitchen surfaces, scrubbing grout cement off the floors, and just all around helping out. I think that Carly had a great time! We discovered several things about the woofie that we didn't already know.
1. Putting her in the back yard (even one as big as ours) does no good for her, she is totally un-interested in the idea of being alone.
2. Carly does not like ceiling fans. She jumps at them and tries to catch them, it is kinda funny, but somewhat sad :(
All in all, it was another busy, yet productive weekend. Nick and George painted the whole garage with 2 coats, the office is done being painted (well, except for the trim) and the kitchen is floorless!

The Dryer and other items
It is becoming increasingly entertaining, and also very troubling, the discoveries that we make when going through the house we purchased. I am surprised that the previous owner was able to live there and not burn the place down. I will illustrate the event that brings about this most recent revalation with some step by step instructions:

- Step 1: remove clothing from washing machine and place in Dryer
- Step 2: Turn dryer on
- Step 3: When clothing has dried, remove clothing from dryer, place in basket
- Step 4: Remove lint filter, clean lint, replace lint filter.
How to dry your laundry: Prior owner style
Complete all steps, skip step 4. Yes, that is right, do not clean the lint filter. Nick found the biggest lint blanket in the filter EVER! Honestly, I cannot figure out how in the world the dryer didn't break, blow up, melt down, or catch on fire. I mean honestly, how does a person not know that lint needs to be cleaned out!!!! This is like basic house-keeping. Sheesh!

Skinny Latte and other ramblings
Nick and I continue to be extremely busy with work and the house. We currently reside in a near empty house with a half demolished kitchen, partially painted rooms, and overall dissarray. I cooked in the kitchen for the first time last night and nick and I sat down to a romantic dinner in the lawn chairs placed in the middle of the kitchen on the lone tiles that have yet to be pulled up. Our first cooked meal in the house consisted of sweet potato fries, pasta with melted cheeze and toasted bread. Not really healthy, but good just the same!
The large dumpster will arrive today, which will make me feel better about the demolition taking place in the house as we will now have a home for all the debris that are quickly accumulating in piles around the house.
Nick and I are practicing to be europeans...no, not because we are going to europe but because we currently have no shower curtain (common in European bathrooms) and we have been doing the, "shower carefully" thing. Perhaps I can find some time to stop and grab one, plus rings.
**And now for the Skinny Latte item mentioned in the title** For years, I have heard mostly women at Starbucks, refer to skim milk lattes as skinny lattes. Well, now Starbucks has taken that long used wording and placed it into adds and advertisement boards in the stores nationwide. Now, quite naturally, there is an uproar about whether it is PC to use the term "skinny" and supposedly target women. There are blogs all over the place putting in their two cents. Well, I will join them and give my two cents:
We have become a very unhealthy society, that cannot be dissagreed with. We also have a habit of wanting to tone down the problem. We always have to ensure that we do not offend people by calling the overweight, fat, or other words. While I agree with the idea that offending people to offend them is not nice, I also believe that the more we try to hide from our problems and remain PC, the more the problem will perssist. Our health care is out of control, much of which is due to weight issues. You know, if Starbucks wants to call their latte skinny, let them call it skinny. If skinny is offensive, then non-fat should be more offensive since it has the actual word fat and the prefix non ... I have an idea, pipe down and stop finding things to be offended by. Skinny late, non-fat latte, healthy latte, skim latte...call it what you want.

Busy Busy Busy
Wow, Nick and I have been so busy. Here is what life has consisted of over the last few days.
- I am in the middle of busy season, which simply put, makes it seem as though when I am work I am swamped, when I come home, I'm swamped, and when I am sleeping...you guessed it, swamped. I have been working pretty much all the time.
- Nick is in Hood River (yes, out of town again, lame lame lame) and so the poor guy has to get up really early, drive, work, drive home late. Once he finishes up in Hood River, they are sending him back to Ontario. Cant a guy catch a break, make someone else work out of town.
- We closed on the house and have moved one load from Corvallis. There is so much stuff down there. There is stuff that doesnt belong to Nick or I can we are going to have to figure out what to do with it all. I am not a fan of sorting through stuff, and Nick is very obviously not either.
- We have yet to move in. The place is filthy, despite the fact that it was supposed to be cleaned.
- There are things like the kitchen that we need to re-do, so we are trying to determine whether we will do that prior to moving in, or whether it is something that we will do over time. There are things like crooked tile, bad wall color, and smells that are intollerable that must must must be taken care of before we move in.
- I need to post pictures of the house, so sorry guys.

Heartbroken
I am so sad to have to write this post. Pax, the Aussie I had prior to moving up to Portland whome I returned to Jay when I moved, has passed away today. He was born in March 2004 and passed away on February 1, 2008. The only guess we have as to how this happened was that he was hit, internally injured and found a quit place to lie down. I am just heartbroken-he was a wonderful dog. My heart goes out to Jay, Pax was his best friend and I am so sad for him that his best friend is gone. Below is pax and I a few years back.
